How to make karela(bitter gourd bhaji)

 

Karela bhaji, also known as bitter gourd stir-fry, is a popular Indian dish that can be enjoyed as a side dish or a main course. Here is a simple recipe to make karela bhaji:

Ingredients:

Half kg medium-sized bitter gourds

2 tablespoons oil

1 teaspoon cumin seeds

1 teaspoon mustard seeds

2 medium-sized onion, chopped

1 teaspoon coriander powder

Salt to taste

Instructions:

Wash the bitter gourds thoroughly and cut them into thin slices.

Sprinkle salt over the bitter gourd slices and let them sit for 15-20 minutes. This helps to reduce the bitterness of the gourd.

After 20 minutes, squeeze the bitter gourd slices to remove the excess water and bitterness.

Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and mustard seeds and let them crackle

Add the bitter gourd slices and stir fry for 5-6 minutes.

Add chopped onions and sauté until they turn translucent.

Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute.

Add coriander powder, m ,  salt. Mix well.

Cover the pan and cook the bhaji for another 5-6 minutes or until the bitter gourd is cooked and turns golden brown.

Enjoy your delicious and healthy karela bhaji as a sidedish.
