How to make Bhindi Curry
Bhindi curry, also known as okra curry, is a popular Indian dish that is easy to make and packed with flavour. Here's a recipe you can follow:
Ingredients:
500 g of fresh okra (bhindi)
1 large onion, chopped
1 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon of coriander powder
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
small lemonsize of tamarind.
1/4 teaspoon red chilli powder (adjust to taste)
Half coconut
Salt to taste
2-3 tablespoons of oil
Instructions:
Rinse the okra and pat it dry. Cut off the ends and slice them into 1-inch pieces.
Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them sizzle for a few seconds.
Add chopped onions and sauté until translucent.
Add the sliced okra to the mixture and let it fry till it becomes soft.
Add coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, tamarind and half a coconut and grind them into a fine paste for the gravy.
Check if the okra is cooked properly, then add the grinded paste to it. Add some water for consistency as required. Add salt as per taste.
Cover with a lid and allow it to cook for 10 minutes. Bhendi curry is ready to serve. Enjoy with roti or rice.
