Capsicum pakoras are a delicious Indian snack made with bell peppers (capsicum) coated in a spicy batter and deep-fried until crispy. Here is a simple recipe to make capsicum pakoras at home:
Ingredients:
2-3 large capsicums, sliced into rounds or strips, are dipped in salt water for about 15 minutes.
1 cup of gram flour (besan)
1/4 cup rice flour
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
1/2 teaspoon coriander powder
1/2 teaspoon ajwain
1/2 teaspoon jeera
1/2 teaspoon garlic and ginger paste
4 green chillies
Salt to taste
water as required
Oil for deep-frying
Instructions:
Grind green chillies, ajwain, and jeera together, then add garlic and ginger paste to it.
Add all the grinded mixture to a mixing bowl. Combine gram flour, rice flour, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well.
Gradually add water and whisk to form a smooth batter with a pouring consistency.
Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
Remove the capsicum from the salt water and dip the sliced capsicum pieces in the batter, coating them evenly.
Gently slide the coated capsicum pieces into the hot oil and deep-fry until golden brown and crispy. Fry a few pieces at a time, taking care not to overcrowd the pan.
Use a slotted spoon to remove the fried capsicum pakoras from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.
Serve hot with mint chutney or ketchup.
Enjoy your homemade capsicum pakoras!
Follow the same process for potato bhajiya or pakoras.
