Jowar roti is a popular Indian flatbread made from jowar (sorghum) flour. Below is a simple and quick recipe to make jowar roti:
Ingredients:
1 cup Jowar flour
1 spoon of ghee
half cup of water
Salt (optional)
Instructions:
Heat a half cup of water in a pan and add salt and ghee to it. Put off the flame once the water starts boiling.
Add 1 cup of jowar flour and stir continuously. Cover with a lid for 5 minutes.
Take out the mixture on a plate, allow it to cool a bit, and then start kneading.
Gradually add water to the flour while kneading the dough. Keep adding water until you get a smooth and pliable dough.
Cover the dough and let it rest for 5 minutes.
Divide the dough into equal-sized balls.
Take one ball of dough and dust it with jowar flour.
Flatten the ball with your hands and start rolling it out into a round shape using a rolling pin. You may need to dust it with more jowar flour to prevent it from sticking.
Heat a tawa or griddle over medium-high heat.
Place the rolled-out roti on the heated tawa and let it cook for a few seconds.
Once you see small bubbles on the surface, flip the roti over and let it cook for a few more seconds.
Use a spatula to press down on the edges of the roti, and then flip it again.
Cook both sides until they are golden brown and have small dark spots.
Remove the roti from the tawa. You can also apply ghee and serve it hot with your favourite curry or vegetable dish.
Repeat the process with the remaining dough balls. Enjoy your homemade jowar roti
